Preamble

The teaching of the Pilates method is very successful in France. It is therefore necessary to support its development in terms of training, certifications and pedagogies developed among practitioners. The need to regulate this profession was reaffirmed at the ordinary general meeting of October 6, 2012. It is imperative that the Professional Practitioners Pilates clarify and explain the fundamental benchmarks and behaviors that preside over the construction of their Professional Social Responsibility , And to report to their stakeholders (practitioners, employers, public authorities, suppliers).

This is why an ethics commission has been set up whose mission has been to equip professionals with a charter which very precisely indicates the behavioral rules of practitioners who are included in the national list of FPMP members.

This charter proclaims the sincerity of the values ​​and commitments of a profession that wishes to safeguard in France, like other European countries, a highly qualitative teaching of the Pilates method, in the service of well-being.

The Pilates Professional Practitioner

Principle No. 1

All Practitioners Professional Pilates adhering to the FPMP, within the framework of its professional practice, refers to the recommendations of the ethics charter and commits to implement them. He will arrange to display this charter in his establishment, or communicate it by any other means to his practitioners.

Principle No. 2

The Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, is committed to comply with the legislation in force, consistent with the international standards of behavior of the profession.

Principle No. 3

Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, contributes to sustainable development in terms of health and well-being, respecting the integrity of the body and the psyche of its practitioners.

Principle No. 4

The Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, kindly accompanies his practitioners in the learning of an easier functional life, better integrated with the daily constraints of life, specific to each one.

To do this, he has the duty to represent the method by his attitude and his exemplarity (discretion, correct attire, appropriate language). He also undertakes to practice, regularly and personally, the method, under the supervision of a peer.

Principle No. 5

The Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, practices either as an employee or as a liberal profession. In the second hypothesis, its tariffs must be known in advance by its practitioners and be the subject of an invoice or a receipt.

Principle No. 6

The Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, is not a medical or paramedical staff and should not interfere with ongoing medical diagnoses and / or treatments with practitioners. However, he may exercise a right of withdrawal, interrupt a session and ask for medical advice if necessary.

Principle No. 7

Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, is committed to applying for a medical certificate of fitness to practice Pilates, to any new practitioner.

Principle No. 8

Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, has a duty to question practitioners at the first appointment, and at least once a year, about the state of their health. A standard questionnaire was developed by the Health Commission for this purpose. He / she undertakes not to propose inappropriate exercises to specific age or an informed pathology.

Principle No. 9

Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, intervenes on a practitioner’s body. He will always seek permission from the practitioner to touch the non-visible parts of the body (back …) by himself, as well as those that can be considered more intimate (sacrum, sternum, pelvis …), will verbalize the ” Touch “and explain the technique used and its foundations.

Principle No. 10

The Professional Practitioner Pilates, member of the FPMP, is committed to exercise in conditions of hygiene and security irreprochable. He will clean his material after each session.

Principle No. 11

The Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, must be professionally certified by the FPMP.

Principle No. 12

The Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, is committed to being transparent in terms of training and diploma. The practitioner must be able to choose his method, provided that he is recognized as being qualitative and eligible for the professional certification of the FPMP.

Principle No. 13

The Professional Practitioner Pilates, a member of the FPMP, is committed to keeping her knowledge up to date and advancing her professional practice through continuous training.
